Cybercab presentation
At the event, Tesla's robotaxi was unveiled. The futuristic vehicle, without pedals or a steering wheel, has two seats, gullwing doors and no charging port. Musk believes that the use of the Cybercab will increase the utilization rate of cars. The current car is used on average 10 to 148 hours per week, which is no more than 7 percent. An autonomous car could be used five to ten times as often.
RoboVan presentation
The Cybercab presentation was not the only autonomous vehicle at the event. An autonomous electric shuttle that can seat up to 20 people was also presented. This is the RoboVan from Tesla. Tesla did not provide any further details about the technology.
The humanoid robot Optimus
The highlight of the event was the humanoid Optimus robots. They were unveiled two years ago at AI Day 2022. The robots could be seen in the halls and on stage. In the halls, they interacted with people, for example, by serving drinks at bars or choreographing dances. It was also mentioned that the robots at the event had human support and therefore did not act automatically. Tesla did not comment on this, which raises the question of whether Optimus is already capable of autonomous operation.
Conclusion
The Tesla event presents a clear vision of a future in which autonomous vehicles and artificial intelligence are seamlessly integrated into our daily lives. With CyberCab and RoboVan, Tesla could revolutionize commuting and improve road safety. The humanoid robot Optimus also offers a vision of household help and everyday support that could significantly improve the lives of many people.
