The future of the judiciary ?

Pleading by AI lawyer

The Middle Kingdom is more modern in many areas and is not afraid to use innovations very quickly in a practical environment. AI therefore also supports the legal system, but it has not yet gone so far as to take over the defense of a defendant. The United States is a pioneer in this area.

The American company DoNotPay launched a very successful application on the market in 2016, shortly after its foundation. The chat bot system of the same name focused primarily on providing legal support to users and, for example, created documents, answered questions, and thus provided very efficient support in the case of complaints about wrongly issued parking tickets (known as "parking tickets" in German). Thanks to the clever bot, almost half of all those affected were able to save the fees.

Currently, DoNotPay is going a big step further by providing live support to a defendant in the courtroom through the latest version of its AI system. The premiere of the "robot lawyer" will take place in February 2023, where the chat AI, based on the deposited legal knowledge, known facts about the case, on-site statements, comments made, etc., will provide recommendations and arguments to the defendant, who will then present them. Thanks to access to a wide range of data sources and state-of-the-art speech analysis, this should provide a helpful, fair and, above all, cost-effective means of enabling every citizen to fight for his or her rights in court.
We are looking forward to all reports on the trial and the plea of the "robot lawyer".
