Apple has unveiled a new version of Siri, designed to be more natural and helpful. The improved Siri is powered by Apple's generative AI models, known as Apple Intelligence. The interface has also been revamped, featuring a glow around the device's bezel and responses displayed on richly detailed cards.

The new version of Siri will be rolled out gradually over the next year. Apple emphasizes that Siri will understand context, so users won't need to repeat information in follow-up queries. "Siri will be able to find and understand things it never could before," Apple stated.

A significant new feature is Siri's screen awareness. The AI can recognize what is displayed on the screen and perform in-app actions. For instance, if you are filling out a form that asks for your driver's license number, Siri can automatically find a photo of your license and extract the number to fill in the field.

With App Intents, Siri will be deeply integrated into first- and third-party apps. Apple demonstrated this by asking the Photos app to edit the currently displayed image, with Siri taking over the adjustments. Additionally, Siri will have deeper knowledge of Apple products. For example, if you ask, "How can I write a message now and send it tomorrow?", Siri will provide instructions on using the new scheduled send feature in iOS 18 Messages.

These features will be introduced gradually throughout the lifecycle of iOS 18. The new Siri design will also be available on the iPad and Mac.
